The Goddess Ladder

Adapted from VeeDub’s Ladder of Hestia

This is a version of grounding & centering that is easiest done while seated.

Breathe deeply from your abdomen, completely filling and emptying your lungs at least four times. Feel the mana present in your body, and draw it into a ball at your centre, just below your navel.

Send the energy down through your spine and legs, then out through the floor and into the earth. Feel the roots of mana digging deep into the core of the planet, where the hearth-fire of Vesta burns at the centre. Join your energy with that fire in the earth. Let it become one with the fire at the heart of the earth, let it become purified by that fire.

Now draw back your cleansed mana, back up through the roots you put down; rising up through the cooled earth and back into your body once more.

As the energy flows into the root chakra at the base of your spine, envision it as a deep blood-red flower blossoming into life. Feel the power of Demeter, the Mother of Life, healing and sustaining your physical body.

Send the mana up to the navel chakra, where the flower blossoms into a bright orange bloom. Feel the power of Juno, Queen of Heaven, taking anger and turning it to creativity and success.

Continue upward to the solar plexus chakra, and see the flower bloom in vibrant golden yellow. Feel the power of Diana the Huntress transforming your fear and doubt into courage and drive.

Move the energy up yet again to the heart chakra, and envision the flower unfolding petals of forest green. Feel the power of Gaia the Earth-Mother open your heart to love and compassion.

Guide the energy to the throat chakra, changing colour to deep sea blue. Feel the power of Hekate, Witch-Queen and Guide, bring you clarity and freedom to speak and hear Truth.

Let the power rise yet again to the third eye chakra, changing the energy’s colour to indigo. Feel the clean clear power of Athena the Wise banish ignorance and welcome knowledge.

Keep the energy flowing up to the crown chakra, changing its colour to violet.  Let the goddess Kore, the Spring Maiden, serve as the link between that which is below and that which is above. Let her breathe the violet energy up to the gods in devotion and receive it back from them, circulating it throughout your body. Allow her to dissolve and banish all obsessions and bring you blessing.

Offer your energy up to the Star Goddess, the Lady of the Three Roads and the Spaces Between, the Circumference which is the Centre of all, the unknowable Divine Being. Feel your offering raining back down through you as divine grace. Feel yourself at this particular place, at this particular instant of time. Rest in this knowledge: be here now.
